This thread should be about detailing enemy monster types for the MH story. They should be rooted in a real world mythology of some type. Keep in mind there will be two different types of enemies in the story.
BEASTS Examples: vampires, werewolves, zombies, etc. Description: Beasts are rooted in the physical realm. Generally, they are very much aggressive and in your face, and can attack without much provocation. They are weak to silver weapons.
APPARITIONS Examples: Ghouls, Demons, Spirits, etc. Description: Apparitions are rooted in the spiritual realm. Generally, they are very passive in their actions, and they attack by being provoked (stepping on burial grounds, calling on an ancient power, etc.). They are weak to holy water.

VAMPIRES Type: Beast Physical Traits: varies from individual to individual. Most have fangs, pale skin, and abnormal eyes. They have a distinct battle cry that goes WRYYY or URRYYY. Powers and AbilitiesThese may vary across different vampires. The most obvious abilities are their raw strength, regeneration, blood-sucking tentacles at their fingers and near-immortality. On top of that, many vampires are capable of manipulating their bodies in creative and unique ways. - Enhanced Senses - Space Ripper Stingy Eyes: Creates two pressurized fluid jets from the eyes. Strong enough to cut cleanly through a stone column. - High-level Regeneration: The body is able to live even after having vital body parts amputated. It will regenerate and the body parts can reattach themselves. Vampires can also control their detached body parts. - Vaporization Freezing Technique: A freezing ability enabling vampires to freeze their own body parts and transfer the loss of energy by touch. It is able to cancel out Hamon by freezing the blood in the user's body. - Fusion: By fusing different species, the vampires can create half-man half-beast hybrid zombies. They can even fuse themselves with another living being to take control of them. -Spores: A vampire's cells can spawn Flesh Buds from their own cells and insert them in the brains of living beings to control them. If someone tries to remove the spore, it will grow tentacles in a attempt to kill both the host and the one trying to remove it. The process can be accelerated by anyone able to manipulate life at a cellular level. -Hypnosis

Zombies
Type: Beast
Physical traits: A secondary undead created by a vampire. Anything from long-buried corpses to hybridized organisms can be made into a zombie. Those who have their blood sucked by a vampire (and infected with a vampiric extract) are turned into zombies who don't feel pain. Skilled Hamon users are able to reject this process. As lesser beings, the majority of zombies base their methods of attack on their lives as humans, making each unique and unpredictable. Zombies are known for having a rotting stench and a monster-like appearance. Most of them, however, hide their true appearance through disguises.
Powers and Abilities
Zombies possess increased strength, although not to the degree of vampires. They usually have unique abilities, although it is likely that many of them have the following.
Vascular Needle Attack: the ability to grow antennas at the top of the head that can be extended at their victim's direction to suck their blood.

Ghosts
Type: Apparition
Physical Traits: There is almost no difference in appearance from when the ghost was alive, however some will retain their injuries from their death.
Rules/Characteristics
When a person dies, often times their soul in the form of a incorporeal manifestation of themselves can be seen transcending into the Heaven. Individuals who's souls are incapable of passing through to the other side are forced to wander the earth as ghosts. Though each ghost's cause of death is different, most of them can be classified as Revenant: beings unable to enter Heaven and are essentially forced to roam the earth in a spiritual form, often times bound to a specific location or required to perform certain tasks.
As ghosts, normal people (non-stand users) cannot see them and their bounds of human capability are removed, allowing them to perform various acts of supernatural abilities. The abilities vary for each individual, though most are able to fly. And though possibly fueled with revenge, ghosts will retain their personalities and are perfectly capable of reasonable thought.
Ghosts also need to follow certain rules in their existence. They can only enter a room if its empty or if someone inside has given the ghost permission. They have the ability to manipulate objects, though they are not able to feel them. Ghosts who previously had a Stand in their former, living life can still use them. It is also said that ghosts are unable to develop physically unlike living beings, and the memories stored in their spirit are only those of their former life. If a ghost touches someone by accident they lose their limbs, so most spirits just shrivel and hide in the shadows to avoid bumping into people.

Imps
Type: Beast
Physical traits: A lesser devil, these diminutive creatures are barely two feet tall and don't look like much. They have small wings on their back, disgusting faces, and they come in a variety of nauseous colors. Their voices are high pitched and incredibly annoying, making them a nuisance to fight.
Powers and Abilities
Imps don't have many abilities on their own besides flight, nor are they particularly powerful, but they are always found in mobs, and they can literally bury you if you aren't careful.

Bluds
Type: Beast
Physical Traits: Bluds appears as monstrous, humanoids figures with three fingers each for both hands and feet. They wear no clothing and are completely naked, but lack any form of genitals, making it a mystery on how they reproduce. Bluds usually have dark, pinkish skin, similar to that of a pig, except that the skin is in reality akin to a durable crust, protecting them from most bladed weapons, even silver or blessed ones if said weapon isn't used skillfully. They have a disgusting face, akin to that a pig and a dog, and have point, long ears that are filled with dirt. Mucus constantly oozes from their nose as well.
Powers and Abilities
Bluds are stronger than the average human, being able to rip a normal human into shreds within a few seconds. Their true power however, isn't their strength, but their mind. Bluds have the uncanny ability to control or subtly influence the mind of other human beings, making them either see hallucinations or "destroying" their mind completely, leaving only a blank puppet for the Blud to control at will. Several horrifying tales have been heard about Bluds. For example, one hunter said that a Blud could make it feel as if you were surrounded by your dearest friends, while in reality you were being attacked by a horde of zombies. Others instead said that a Blud could make you willingly walk off a cliff, making you believe that it was in reality a path towards your home. Indeed, a Blud's mind is so strong that merely staying within a few dozen of meters next to it will cause its mind to start influencing you, severely distorting your vision and making you hear about things that do not exist.
A Blud's weakness however is that they need time and concentration to assault someone with their psychic powers, and that their psychic abilities have no affect if he cannot see his target. Many hunters are taught at the start to classify a Blud's mental ability as a "psychic bolt" of some sorts, since it almost works like a gun, making cover essential in order to avoid the Blud's line of sight and being affected by his mental powers. Bluds are also quite rare nowadays, probably because of their lack of genitals. But many do suspect that they manage to procreate without them, somehow, and that they are merely biding their time before completely annihilating the human race.

Demons
Type: Apparition
Physical Traits: Demons are very rarely seen in their true forms, and they all look different.
Powers and Abilities
Demons have some limited power over the physical realm, and can grant very limited wishes to mortals who make deals with them. The way they go about granting these wishes almost always backfires for the person who made the wish, and demons often grant these wishes by possessing the mortal who made the wish, framing them for terrible crimes. Demons do this because of their twisted sense of humor, finding the suffering of mortals to be hilarious. Demons must be exorcised by a sufficiently skilled Specialist, otherwise they will not leave until they are satisfied with the chaos they have created or their host dies.

Jiangshi
Type: Beast
Physical Traits: Jiangshi are very similar to humans, but with some key differences. They have decaying skin which looks a sickly blueish green. They walk in a stiff way, in a motion some people would describe as "hopping". Their stiffness extends to their arms, which are hold straight forward at all times. Since most come from China, they wear dark robes and matching hats.
Powers and Abilities
Jiangshi possess increased strength compared to humans. They have a peculiar ability to heal almost all their wounds, no matter how severe. It is very difficult to kill a Jiangshi; the only methods of disposing of them are fire, and a Buddhist talisman. they can be "put to sleep" through the use of a Buddhist talisman, rendering them incapable of doing anything.

Wendigos
Type: Beast
Physical Traits: Wendigos often look thin and emaciated, to the point that their bones can be seen outside of their desiccated skin. Their complexion is usually similar to that of ash and their eyes are pushed back into their sockets. In simple terms, the Wendigo looks like a skeleton that is only barely covered by flesh, while an aroma of death and decay seeps from it. Wendigos are born from humans who resorted to cannibalism in their lives. It doesn't matter how, but whenever a human eats the corpse of another human, they leave themselves vulnerable to possession from a Wendigo spirit, giving them superhuman powers while making them have a craving for human flesh that cannot be satiated. Only a few human beings with strong willpower are able to slightly resist this hunger, but in the end they all succumb to the Wendigo spirit. A Wendigo's personality depends on the host's personality as well.
Powers and Abilities
Most Wendigos have token abilities, such as inhuman strength, speed, durability and senses. However they also have an uncanny ability to regenerate from wounds by eating small pieces of meat from any kind of living being, as long as their hard jaws can chew it. An aroma of death also lingers on them, causing small lifeforms such as plants or mice to die instantly and generally unnerving larger creatures. Due to their strange appearance and incredible teeth, they have often been seen using several techniques that involve the use of their strong points.
Big Chow Attack: The Wendigo will attempt to jump towards the enemy and bite off their flesh by suddenly extending their neck and jaws. This allows them to both damage their enemies and heal themselves from any previous injuries.
Starvation Mode: The Wendigo enters a frenzied state when he hasn't eaten for several days or has been critically injured. In this state it doesn't care about allies or foes: It will simply attack any living being closest to it and attempt to quickly overwhelm them with several attacks and devour them. In this state a Wendigo uses 100% of its power, so it might come off as a shock to some of its opponents, but a Wendigo can only survive for a few minutes in this stage before it automatically dies out of starvation.

Eurynomos
Type: Apparition
Physical Traits: Always composed of some or fully composed of dead and decaying flesh. Shapes and sizes depends on the amount of flesh used to host the being.
Rules and Characteristics
Also known as "flesh golems", popularized by villagers who haven't heard of the creatures before, the Eurynomos (the term being both the singular and plural form, as it is never known for sure how many of the Eurynomos are in a vessel at a time) are actually evil spirits that are called upon by unholy magics to do the bidding of the summoner. They possess the corpses of the dead, but would build themselves into a collection of bodies, as opposed to just one body, and become one entity of massed flesh in a horrifying form that would make it most capable of performing an assigned task. They are not capable of cognitive thinking beyond recognizing who to kill, or presenting a specific person with a message from the summoner. Once the task is completed, the Eurynomos will return to the summoner and expect compensation for it's task, in form of the life of another being. Normally, if hired to kill someone, the price would be met automatically by absorbing the soul of the slain. however, if made to do something else, the Eurynomos will attempt to steal the soul of the summoner. As an apparition, it would be destroyed with contact to holy water, but to make contact with the spirit inside the vessel, the vessel itself would have to be made useless for the Eurynomos's task. When the spirit decides that the vessel will bring no use to its task, it will attempt to immediately escape the golem. Only then will the spirit leave the construct and be open to direct attack, until it finds a new vessel.
